At RWE Americas, the Portfolio Controlling team oversees RWE’s obligations and relationships with third‑party investors across a large and complex renewable energy financing portfolio. The team currently manages 28 tax equity financings across 44 operating projects and works closely with more than 15 tax equity investors and 3 joint‑venture partnerships. An additional 22 operating projects are expected to commence operations by year‑end.

In this role,
Senior Portfolio Controlling Associate serves as a key liaison between external investors and internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with financing agreements, facilitating effective communication, and supporting the successful long‑term management of RWE’s renewable energy assets. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong customer service orientation, a collaborative approach, meticulous attention to detail, and knowledge of partnership and tax equity financing structures within the renewable energy industry.

Role

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage reporting deliverables to external financing partners, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax equity and joint‑venture partnership agreements.
  • Prepare annual tax equity flip models and support valuation analyses for restructuring and buyout opportunities.
  • Lead the development of tax equity and joint‑venture partner materials for regularly scheduled meetings, including performance summaries, budget variance explanations, and operating metrics.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for assigned tax equity and joint‑venture partners, managing responses to detailed inquiries regarding financial and operational performance, compliance, and commercial issues.
  • Collaborate on drafting and coordinating amendments to agreements and obtain required consents from tax equity and joint‑venture partners.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to reporting processes and models that enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and enable scale.
  • Collaborate across business functions to ensure project budgets, financial forecasts, and contractual obligations are aligned and communicated to tax equity and joint‑venture partners.
Job Requirements and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient understanding of tax equity concepts, operating reports, cash distribution calculations, and systems/tools.
  • Ability to identify issues and modify processes and methods as needed.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical thinking; able to solve moderately complex problems with limited guidance; interpret and translate legal language in financing agreements to resolve conflicts.
  • Visualize data/key information effectively for various audiences; interpret financial data in light of business dynamics.
  • Actively drive collaboration across functions; explain findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Focus on building relationships to standardize processes and solve problems.
  • Lead assigned tasks with management direction/guidance.
  • Manage investors/partners and other stakeholders for specific areas.
  • Guide interns/new joiners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the company and the renewables space.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Ability to multi‑task while working independently and as part of a team.
  • Motivated self‑starter, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Office‑based role with some travel and visits to other RWE office and field locations.
