Controller – Build Scalable Financial Infrastructure for Endevica Bio's Growth
Endevica Bio is a clinical-stage biotech located just outside Chicago in Northbrook, IL. We are a therapeutic drug developer advancing a series of novel assets toward and into the clinic. Our development team is strategically small, but we work creatively, efficiently, and collaboratively to drive rapid, meaningful progress.
We’re seeking a seasoned Controller to lead our accounting operations and build the scalable, SOX-compliant infrastructure. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a pivotal hands‑on leadership role for a strategic accounting professional who thrives in dynamic, fast‑paced biotech environments and wants to make a lasting impact on a mission-driven company poised for significant growth.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Lead technical accounting activities related to complex transactions.
- Drive the SEC reporting function, including development and enhancement of public-company capabilities (MD&A, 10‑K, 10‑Q, 8‑K, press releases, and disclosures).
- Direct the annual external audit process and maintain year‑round audit readiness.
- Design and implement a robust internal control environment aligned with SOX 404 requirements.
- Lead core accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Intercompany Transactions, and more.
- Continuously strengthen accounting policies, procedures, controls, and ERP/financial systems to improve automation, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, within a public or pre‑IPO biotech/pharma environment.
- Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, technical accounting, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
- Proven track record leading audits, building scalable processes, and supporting organizational growth.
- Strong leadership, communication, and executive presentation skills.
- High level of accountability, adaptability, and ability to excel in a fast‑paced setting with evolving priorities.
