Job Purpose
The Private Investment Operations Associate, CLOs, at PPM is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of syndicated bank loans within CLOs, managing the operations of CLO warehouse launches, and ensuring compliance with CLO reporting and payment obligations. This role involves significant interaction with internal parties such as traders, portfolio managers, the CLO team, and operational teams, as well as external parties including trustees, agent banks, counter parties, custodians, auditors, and clients.
The Associate supports and mentors Analysts within Private Investment Operations and may engage in operational activities across other private investments through cross‑training opportunities.
- Manages all operational aspects of launching and closing CLO warehouses, including funding requests, review of flow‑of‑funds reports, asset transfers, and coordination of closings with trustees, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Analyzes and interprets CLO indentures to validate compliance testing, monitors and reconciles loan characteristics to compliance tests, and produces trustee reports.
- Performs detailed reconciliations of CLO portfolio cash and holdings, as well as CLO asset attributes, against trustee records.
- Supports CLO accounting activities such as monitoring expense invoices, calculating management and trustee fees, and performing detailed analyses of waterfalls and cash‑flow distributions.
- Prepares client reports and responds to client and investment manager inquiries in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
- Effectively and efficiently coordinates new project or activity‑related work.
- Promotes continual process improvement by identifying, recommending, and implementing change and automation.
- Works collaboratively with other Private Investment Operations team members.
- Mentors and cross‑trains others on CLO portfolio reporting and related responsibilities.
- Mentors or oversees junior Portfolio Analyst execution of CLO responsibilities.
- Provides additional operational support when needed.
- Participates in and provides cross‑training with the Public Securities Operations team on an ad‑hoc basis.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Deep understanding of CLO indentures, trustee reporting, payment waterfalls, and governing documents; familiarity with S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch ratings as they relate to CLOs; ability to prioritize and independently manage multiple deadlines and client requirements; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), as well as navigating Moody’s, S&P, and other financial platforms; strong detail orientation, organizational and communication skills; teamwork‑based collaborative approach;
critical thinking, analysis, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving expertise. Preferred knowledge of WSO systems (Administrator, Reporting, Compliance, Integration Utility tool), S&P Global platforms (Markit Pricing, Notice Manager, ADFlow), Black Rock’s Aladdin tool, and data‑analysis/automation tools such as Python, Power BI, and JIRA.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of practical experience with CLO asset classes and custodial/trustee service requirements.
- Extensive experience with operational processes involved in launching and closing CLO warehouses.
- Experience preparing accurate and timely reports, analysis, and presentations for management and clients.
- Experience with syndicated bank loan LSTA trade and settlement documentation and the Clearpar Platform preferred.
- Additional credentials or progress toward an advanced degree or industry designation (e.g., CFA, CPA) preferred.
- Competitive base salary ($95,000.00 - $) with eligibility for annual bonus.
