Position Overview

The position is a PM/Underwriting role, inclusive of current and new customer calling and pitching. As PM, the hire would manage 7-10 primarily leads and some participations, while also managing the underwriting of new borrowers and helping train younger team members. The role is involved in decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions for BMO.

Position to be located in Chicago to support the market team.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees credit and legal documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance
  • Provides accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers
  • Oversees preparation of concise, well reasoned credit correspondence
  • Coordinates the preparation of lending proposals and pitches to prospective clients with efforts to maximize penetration and returns
  • Negotiates transactions with clients and provides deal structuring expertise
  • Manages workflow of other analysts by aligning tasks with departmental goals and objectives
  • Develops credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans
  • Assists in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and e‑mail interaction with clients
  • Prepares summary, presents facts and offers opinions concerning credit worthiness
  • Establishes cross‑selling initiatives to increase penetration with clients
  • Applies knowledge in bank products, processes and systems and effectively troubleshoots to ensure a high‑quality client experience
  • Coordinates closing with closing department, clients and attorneys
  • Minimizes BMO's risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions
  • Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules
  • Works independently and regularly handles non‑routine situations
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed
Qualifications
  • Typicaly between 7+ years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience
  • In‑depth verbal & written communication skills
  • In‑depth collaboration & team skills
  • In‑depth analytical and problem‑solving skills, including financial statement analysis and modeling expertise
  • Influence skills – in‑depth

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
