About the RoleAs a Cash Application Specialist at Zekelman Industries, you will ensure accurate and timely application of customer payments and support efficient accounts receivable operations. This full‑time, on‑site role is located in Chicago, IL.
What You’ll Do- Apply lockbox and wire remittances daily to ensure accurate and timely customer payment processing.
- Research unapplied cash transactions and payment histories to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and upload ACH payment files while maintaining accurate customer ACH information.
- Perform accounts receivable activities related to cash application and payment processing.
- Reconcile and maintain banking deposit logs and import data into the deposit reconciliation system.
- Generate deposit log analyses and financial reports to support business needs.
- Maintain required documentation and approvals to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance cash application accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3–5 years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a related accounting role.
- Experience working within an SAP environment preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
