Our client, a prominent financial services firm in Chicago, is seeking a Middle Office Operations Associate. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience from an institutional investment firm or large financial institution.
Responsibilities- Support various front office teams, counter parties and depositories to ensure all trades are processed, reconciled and settled in a timely and accurate manner
- Daily interaction with prime brokers and custodians, as well as internal business units (front office PMs, traders, accounting, compliance etc.)
- Manage daily cash flow, collateral and exposure
- Oversee provider reconciliations, trade settlements and end-of-day processing
- Collaborate with IT and business leaders to identify and implement new technology initiatives, ultimately providing optimal efficiencies for the business
- Maintain information related to investment strategies and ensure that the proper parties receive the relevant information
- Utilize trading system to perform accurate reconciliations; ensuring operational procedures and risk controls are met
- Perform daily position calculations, PnL reporting and reconciliation across various investment strategies
- Investigate and resolve trade breaks; execute proper confirmation of cash flows
- Participate on ad-hoc initiatives as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math/Statistics or Business-related discipline
- 1-3 years previous experience in investment management industry, preferably in an operational capacity (previous trade support experience a plus)
- Interest in financial services industry; passion for leveraging technology/database applications to improve processes and reporting procedures
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel; advanced skills in SQL, VBA strongly preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic; strong organizational skills and project management capabilities
