Description

Find your future at United! We’re reinventing what our industry looks like, and what an airline can be – from the planes we fly to the people who fly them. When you join us, you’re joining a global team of 100,000+ connected by a shared passion with a wide spectrum of experience and skills to lead the way forward.

We’re not just in the business of transporting people. We’re also in the business of moving cargo. Our Cargo team transports everyday electronics and automotive parts, perishable goods, life‑saving organs, vaccines and even baby formula, helping keep businesses, communities and global economies running.

With a variety of career options across marketing, finance, logistics, data analytics and more, you have the opportunity to build a career within a career and gain exposure to many areas of our airline’s important role in the global supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

With United Cargo growing to over $2B in revenue, the operational support needs have grown as well. As the leading belly carrier in the world, United needs to stay ahead of the competition in analytics. The Manager of Cargo Ops Analytics will lead a team that owns operations analytics for United Cargo. This position is ultimately responsible for identifying the right operational levers to pull to drive cost savings across the board.

From creating new data sources from scratch, integrating countless data sets, managing data projects, and building reliable reporting for both internal and external customers, this position is the key lead in all aspects of data analytics for cargo operations. With a cost structure of over $300M, having proper tracking and protocol is competitively, financially, and regulatorily necessary for business. The responsibilities include financial analysis, logistical analysis, cost oversight of $100M+ RFS and ULD budget, vendor management, operational performance metrics, and external vendor performance metrics.

Additionally, this position will have to balance the many ad hoc projects that come up within Cargo, support with operations projects, and drive capital finance projects. It is a full‑time, permanent role within Cargo. The ideal candidate will lead an analytical team of resources within the $2B United Cargo operation.

  • Manage a team to influence Senior Leadership in United through analytical‑derived insights provided to the operation and finance.
  • Increase adoption of analytics reporting, dashboards, and software across all of United Cargo
  • Oversee, forecast, and process payments for the $100M+ RFS and ULD budget
  • Own Service Level Agreement Metrics on $200M in cargo handling spend, enforcing operational standard on United partners
  • Manage ad‑hoc analysis and reporting for the $250M+ United Cargo operation

Note: This is a Chicago‑based hybrid role with in‑office requirements 50% of the time.
