The Business Banker is responsible for proactively sourcing, acquiring, expanding, and retaining customer relationships by maximizing sales opportunities in an assigned Area, growing and retaining a book of business, and ensuring a world-class customer experience for all current and prospective clients. The role serves as a Subject Matter Expert on Deposit, Credit, and Cash Management products, supporting assigned area branches end to end and supporting seven branches across the DT Chicago & Suburbs region.
Responsibilities- Lead as the subject matter expert across a broad sales area of assigned branches, collaborating with branch stakeholders and other Area partners (Wealth Management, Mortgage).
- Partner with cross‑retail segment Area peers spanning Wealth Management, Consumer and Mortgage to execute sales plans.
- Accountable for scorecard metrics and KPIs as defined by Senior Management.
- Support the development of small‑business knowledge and skills within the branch Area team through joint sales activities, training, and referral opportunities.
- Call on assigned high‑value clients to deepen relationships, retain business, and proactively uncover future needs, roadblocks, or risks.
- Educate and introduce clients to appropriate products and services that meet their needs and grow both the balance and revenue of the portfolio.
- Manage credit requests up to $250K and collaborate with Senior Business Bankers on loan relationships over $250K.
- Develop and execute an integrated sales plan to achieve scorecard results, acquire new clients, and target industries/sectors within the designated territory.
- Adhere to sales management routines, practices, and protocols for Business Banking to ensure compliance with all policies.
- Proactively manage a portfolio of assigned high‑value clients, expanding relationships while ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Foster teamwork and Business Banking knowledge across branches to ensure a positive customer experience and client service scores.
- Collaborate with Consumer and Wealth partners to deepen client relationships.
- Work closely with the credit/risk team and branches to facilitate loan closings, including pipeline management, loan escalations/appeals, application quality, and pricing issues.
- Strictly follow internal control policies, including account opening and credit protocols, accurate collection, documentation completion, and updates.
- Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding the firm’s reputation, complying with laws and regulations, and escalating control issues transparently.
- 5–8 years of experience, preferably 2–5 years in banking or 2–3 years in Business Banking.
- Exceptional consulting skills capable of probing, listening, clarifying, and presenting information to advance sales transactions and deepen relationships.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to assimilate complex financial and operational information.
- Professional presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of credit structuring and processing; credit training preferred.
- Highly effective communication and influence skills.

- Employee must register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (Registry), obtain a unique identifier, renew registration annually, update information timely, and provide the identifier to consumers as required by SAFE Act regulations and Citi policies.
- Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent experience.

Salary Range: $87,000 – $131,000 (full‑time)
