Commercial Senior Portfolio Manager – Renewable Energy

Location:

General Function

The Commercial Senior Portfolio Manager is a key member of the coverage team, managing transactions and business portfolio tasks. PMs are expected to be intimately involved in the deal process, making recommendations on appropriate credit structures, pricing, and other key decisions. They are directly accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts through review of updated financial statements, proactive monitoring, and interaction with the Credit Analyst.

They must uphold risk policies, elevate concerns, and always act in the best interest of customers and colleagues, driving a positive customer experience while operating within the bank’s risk appetite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accountable for managing a portfolio of accounts.
  • Review and recommend credit decisions.
  • Partner with the Relationship Manager to meet with clients, participate in business development calls, assess prospective clients’ viability for credit, define borrowers and guarantors, structure deals, set credit terms and conditions, and determine collateral value.
  • Generate commitment letters.
  • Provide credit lending policy interpretation to business partners.
  • Perform final risk rating analysis.
  • Capture and document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Analyst to perform portfolio management duties such as establishing and maintaining Investor Groups on the lender portal, monitoring actions, conducting periodic deal reviews, and executing decisions to renew or modify deals.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding credit events and actions as needed.
  • Work independently to pitch complex deal structures.
  • Maintain a focus on continuous learning to keep up with changing market dynamics.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert and mentor to junior PMs and Credit Analysts.
  • Leverage expertise to provide partners insights into the bank’s lines of business and related economics.

Minimum Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Accounting).
  • At least 8 years of renewable energy finance experience.
  • Highly proficient analytical, critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Professional client‑facing presence.
  • Experience managing an advanced commercial client portfolio with significant complexity.
  • Ability to partner with all deal stakeholders including clients, relationship managers and credit teams.
  • Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem‑solving.
  • Proficiency with technology and ability to learn new applications.
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
  • Extended screen viewing.
  • Some travel required.
Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary: $96,500 – $207,500 USD annually. This range reflects the pay grade for all roles within the U.S. and may vary based on role, skillset, experience, education, and location. The role is eligible for incentive compensation tied to company, line of business and individual performance.
