Operations Controlling Associate

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking an Operations Controlling Associate to support operations leadership in delivering on financial targets for a 13 GW portfolio of onshore wind, solar, and energy storage assets. The role provides financial reporting, forecasting, analysis, and process improvements supporting RWEA’s growth targets.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting for the portfolio, ensuring accuracy and completeness of actuals, commentary, and KPIs (focus on OpEx, Ops Cap Ex, inventory).
  • Support quarterly and annual forecasting by gathering input data, validating source files, and inputting assumptions into models and systems.
  • Maintain asset‑level cost trackers, data logs, and budget support files for operating wind, solar, and storage projects.
  • Perform variance analyses to identify key drivers of deviation from forecasted performance and escalate findings to senior staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare presentation materials for performance review meetings with senior management.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders to take notes, track action items, and follow up on action items.
  • Assist with data extraction, report formatting, and consolidation of key KPIs (e.g., cost/MWh, EBIT).
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc tasks such as cost reclassification efforts and benchmarking assets.
  • Act as a trusted financial partner to site operations and asset management leads, helping translate operational plans into KPIs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or equivalent professional experience.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in FP&A or within the renewable energy sector preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of core accounting concepts and principles; advanced knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to drive collaboration across functions.
  • Ability to explain findings clearly to internal stakeholders; act as finance partner with asset managers and technical teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, structured analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills; identify core insights in financial data.
  • Proficient understanding of forecasting, variance analysis, asset performance metrics and systems/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Strong technical acumen with advanced proficiency in Excel, SAP, SAC, Power BI, and/or Tableau a plus.
  • Detail‑oriented, sound business and analytical mindset.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and communicate with diverse backgrounds.
  • Motivated self‑starter, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Ability to identify issues and modify processes as needed.
  • Desire to learn about the company and renewables space.
  • Responsive to direction, open to challenge, and coachable.
  • Can lead assigned tasks with management direction/guidance.
Pay Range

The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $65,000 – $114,000. The range represents a general guideline for new hires across U.S. locations.
