Job Description:

Overview

We are seeking a Loan Review Consultant to support credit risk consulting projects for a variety of clients within the financial services industry. In this role, you will assist in evaluating credit quality, loan documentation, and compliance with bank policies while gaining exposure to a broad range of financial institutions and lending portfolios. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will contribute to loan review engagements, credit risk assessments, and other consulting projects that help clients strengthen governance and risk management practices.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide loan review support and assist with credit risk consulting engagements for financial institution clients.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze loan documentation, including financial statements, collateral information, and supporting credit files.
  • Prepare preliminary financial analyses, including basic cash flow assessments and collateral evaluations, to identify potential credit risks.
  • Evaluate whether commercial loan files adhere to bank policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state banking regulations.
  • Review loan documentation for completeness and consistency, identifying exceptions and escalating findings to senior team members as appropriate.
  • Assist in systematic reviews of commercial loan portfolios to evaluate credit quality, documentation, credit administration, and policy compliance.
  • Support additional credit-related consulting projects, including due diligence engagements and data analysis initiatives.
  • Contribute to loan review reports and other client deliverables by preparing analyses, exhibits, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain project tracking tools and internal workflows while managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Develop knowledge of loan origination, underwriting, credit administration, and credit risk management practices.
  • Utilize Excel and other analytical tools to improve efficiency and support client engagements.
  • Collaborate with team members across multiple client engagements and geographic markets while delivering high‑quality client service.
Qualifications Educational and Professional Credentials
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, loan review, financial institutions, or risk consulting.
  • Completion of a commercial banking training program is preferred, but not required.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Basic understanding of commercial lending, underwriting, and credit analysis.
  • Familiarity with commercial loan products and financial statement analysis.
  • Knowledge of credit processes, including loan origination, underwriting, credit administration, and portfolio management.
  • Understanding of federal and state banking regulations related to commercial lending is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical or reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
