Regional Underwriting Manager – Rate
Company OverviewRate is a nationally recognized retail mortgage lender, first established in 2000 and headquartered in Chicago. It operates across all 50 states and D.C., supporting more than 2 million homeowners through a range of loan products.
CompensationBase salary range: $115,000 to $120,000 annually.
Responsibilities- Create and maintain a productive, performance‑driven environment that values teamwork.
- Plan, coordinate, direct, review and supervise the underwriting of mortgage loans.
- Oversee underwriting to ensure adherence to all agency, investor, and industry guidelines.
- Review and analyze file documentation related to the loan decision and properly mitigate and document policy exceptions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including QM, ATR, HMDA, RESPA, ECOA, AIR, SAFE Act, etc.
- Maintain the integrity of loan data entered and maintained in Encompass LOS, AUS and other required systems throughout the underwriting process.
- Collaborate with management internally and externally.
- Monitor internal audit results and suspensions to identify improvement and training opportunities.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong knowledge of state and federal mortgage regulations (QM, ATR, RESPA, ECOA, AIR, etc.).
- Excellent customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills and high accuracy.
- Time‑management skills and ability to prioritize workload.
