Assistant Director, Finance & Business Support – Swissôtel Chicago

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Director of Finance & Business Support will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Departments, ensuring labor, compliance, month-end and other deadlines are met accurately and timely.
Responsibilities- Recruit, develop, and motivate to ensure the Finance Department is comprised of top talent
- Assist in the preparation of financial operation statements and reports in accordance with Corporate Policy/Procedure
- Assist departments in the interpretation, orientation, training, and analysis of revenue, payroll, and expense matters
- Maintain system accounts and controls, providing accurate data necessary for all required accounting reports and statements
- Actively involved in ensuring clean internal and external audit reports
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring efficient completion of all month end functions for review with the Area Director, Finance & Business Support
- Monitor, supervise, and prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis
- Oversee and manage the Monthly forecast Monthly Operation Forecasts, working with department heads to strategically and forecast within the Accor accuracy guidelines
- Participate in meetings with the owners as directed by the Director of Finance
- Participate in the creation of the Annual Operation budgets & Capital Budgets
- Oversee and manage the Accounts Receivable team with support of the Director of Finance. Excluding direct billing which will be overseen by the Director of Finance.
- Coordinate and ensure that all daily, semi-monthly, and monthly management reports are issued on a timely and accurate basis
- Assist in the effective utilization and integration of hotel financial technology systems, including software applications, current and future
- Actively contribute to hotel overall leadership and direction
- Participate in the periodic inventory procedures
- Track contracts and ensure compliance and timely renewal
- Ensure financial records and transactions are maintained in compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
- Analyze business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments, and internal process steps. As well as recommend new processes or solutions to business and financial problems
- Active participate in the departmental colleague engagement efforts
- Follow all safety policies and maintain a safe work environment
- Adhere to all hotel systems and internal controls.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures.
- Any other tasks that may be assigned
- Professional designation or acceptable university degree with an appropriate specialization in Finance is preferable
- Previous leadership experience required
- Hotel finance experience and previous finance experience at a management level
- Proven leadership and coaching skills with a track record of developing highly motivated and cross‑trained group of progressive financial professionals
- Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications or relevant computer applications required, knowledge of OPERA, GFS/SUN, Hyperion, POS
- University/College degree in a related discipline an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable to work on own
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
- Frequent sitting throughout shift
- Occasional standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
- Salary: $116,000 - $125,000
