Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)
Type: Full-Time, Permanent/Direct Hire
Pay Range: $185,000 - $215,000 base salary plus 20% bonus

Key Responsibilities- Own the full‑cycle accounting function for the family office management companies, including maintenance of the general ledger, chart of accounts, and all subsidiary records.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
- Prepare consolidated management company financial reports and variance analyses for the CFO and family principals.
- Maintain all accounting records in compliance with tax basis of accounting; establish and document consistent accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage intercompany transactions and allocations across all entities.
- Lead the annual budget process for the management companies, coordinating with department heads and senior leadership to develop operating expense budgets.
- Partner with HR and department heads on compensation planning, benefits cost projections, and headcount forecasting.
- Support the CFO in ad hoc financial analysis, scenario modeling, and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee daily cash management across all operating accounts; maintain appropriate liquidity for payroll, vendor payments, and ongoing operating expenses.
- Develop and maintain short‑ and medium‑term cash flow forecasts; proactively identify and communicate funding needs to the CFO.
- Review and approve wire transfers, ACH payments, and check disbursements in accordance with authorization and segregation‑of‑duties policies.
- Manage banking relationships; evaluate and optimize account structures, fee arrangements, and service levels.
- Ensure proper documentation and record‑keeping for all treasury transactions; maintain bank reconciliations across all accounts.
- Own end‑to‑end semi‑monthly payroll oversight and ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance for all family office employees across management company entities, including exempt and non‑exempt staff.
- Manage payroll tax compliance including federal, state, and local with holdings, filings, and remittances; oversee W‑2 and 1099 issuance.
- Oversee employee benefits billing, including health insurance, retirement plan contributions, FSA/HSA, and other benefit deductions.
- Coordinate with external insurance brokers for annual renewals; evaluate coverage adequacy relative to operational risks and staffing levels.
- Manage certificate of insurance requests, policy documentation, and coverage tracking across all entities.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role. Family office experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience owning payroll, treasury, and budgeting functions — not solely investment or fund accounting.
