Finance Director – City of West Chicago, IL

The City of West Chicago seeks an experienced Finance Director to lead its Finance Department, ensuring sound financial management and excellent service to residents and the council.

• Lead a team of seven employees (Assistant Director, Accountant, Administrative Assistant, and three Account Clerks) in executing local‑government financial best practices.
• Oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, long‑term financial planning, capital financing, cash management, and investment of city funds.
• Manage payroll, billing, payment of city bills, and collection of revenue from residents for services such as water, sewer, garbage, parking permits, and deed certificates.
• Serve as a key partner to the City Administrator, City Manager, and other leadership, supporting long‑term capital improvement projects and enterprise/fund management.
• Act as liaison to the Finance Committee, presenting policy issues in pension, debt, and investment policy for recommendation to the City Council.
• Represent the City on the West Chicago Winfield Wastewater Authority board and serve as Treasurer of the Police Pension Fund Board.
• Provide timely, accurate financial counsel to the City Administrator, Mayor, and City Council, anticipating questions and fostering informed decision‑making.
• Build trust and confidence in the department’s expertise, demonstrating a deep understanding of municipal finance and government cycles.

Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, with a hiring range of $143,422 to $170,000 (DOE).
