Job Title:
Underwriter - FHA
We are committed to providing a competitive and equitable total rewards package. The compensation for this role is designed to attract, retain, and motivate top talent. The expected base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 annually.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for the underwriting of residential loans, reviewing credit documentation and underwriting files to FHA guidelines (DE approved).
- Examine loan documentation for accuracy and completeness while working with loan originators or production staff to secure all required documents.
- May be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government‑backed, etc.).
- Work with more senior mortgage underwriters on loan exceptions, with authority to withdraw and decline loans.
- Respond directly to individual and investor audits.
- Critically examine credit, income and asset documents, review title policy and appraisals.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
- Time management skills and ability to prioritize workload based on daily production.
- Experience with underwriting to multiple lender guidelines and requirements, knowledge of Fannie Mae/DU and Freddie Mac/LP guidelines and AUS.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to the mortgage banking industry (QM, ATR, RESPA, ECOA, AIR, etc.).
- Excellent customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills required with a high degree of accuracy.
