About the Opportunity

A leading multi-billion-dollar investment manager is seeking a Junior to Intermediate Equity Trader to join its execution team in Chicago. This is an exceptional opportunity for an early-career trading professional looking to move beyond pure execution into a role with meaningful ownership, direct portfolio exposure, and broad involvement across the investment process. Rather than supporting a single function, you'll partner closely with Portfolio Managers, Trading, Operations, and Technology while taking ownership of execution for dedicated investment strategies.

You'll gain exposure to capital markets transactions, trading analytics, broker management, and initiatives designed to improve execution quality and trading infrastructure. The firm offers a highly collaborative, performance-driven environment where traders are viewed as strategic partners to the investment team.

What You'll Do

• Execute equity orders for dedicated investment strategies, focusing on best execution, liquidity, timing, and market impact.
• Work closely with Portfolio Managers to support investment implementation and portfolio activity.
• Participate in capital markets transactions, including IPOs, follow-on offerings, and other equity financings.
• Analyze trading data to identify opportunities to improve execution quality, workflows, and trading processes.
• Help manage broker relationships, commission allocation, and financing-related activities.
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations and Technology to enhance trading infrastructure and ensure seamless post-trade execution.
• Contribute ideas that improve efficiency, automation, and overall execution capabilities across the trading platform.

What We're Looking For

• 2-7 years of experience within equity markets on either the buy side or sell side.
• Strong understanding of equity market structure and execution.
• Hands-on Bloomberg experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with an interest in using data to improve trading outcomes.
• Exposure to Python, SQL, AI/ML, or other quantitative tools is a plus, but not required.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate effectively across investment, operations, and technology teams.
• A genuine passion for financial markets and a desire to continue developing as an institutional trader.
