Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst is a motivated, team-oriented individual who provides exceptional support to the Authority in the areas of financial accounting and reporting. Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Proprietary Reporting & Analysis, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing general ledger activity, reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing/reviewing and approving journal entries, developing and issuing financial reports, and supporting closing processes.

The incumbent will support annual audits and reviews for their areas of responsibility, including the preparation of audit schedules/reports.

Essential Functions:
  • Prepare timely and accurate reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts, including related journal entries and associated financial analysis
  • Support timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes
  • Lead the full scope of loan accounting for single family and multifamily loan products
  • Prepare and review loan loss reserves, including validation of information provided by business partners, along with the preparation of associated reporting schedules
  • Lead the preparation and filing of quarterly and periodic reports with the State Comptroller
  • Analyze bond fund operating results and perform general ledger account analysis
  • Prepare and review schedules and journal entries for bond related amortizations
  • Prepare and review audit schedules and year-end audit deliverables to support the annual audit process
  • Assist in development and administration of policies and procedures in accordance with respective accounting pronouncements, as applicable
  • Support financial and management reporting as requested
  • Other duties and projects assigned by the Controller and Deputy Controller
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required. A Master’s degree in Accountancy, an MBA and/or a CPA is preferred, though not required.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in general accounting. Experience should reflect increasing levels of experience with a growth in responsibilities.
  • Technology-forward abilities will be a key to your success, including a proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, etc.), advanced proficiency with Excel (macros, pivot tables, advanced formulas) and foundational data management knowledge. This should be complemented by process design and an ability to identify and drive process improvements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience creating management presentations will be needed.
  • Keen attention to detail, along with solid organizational and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with multiple subledgers and product processors, outside of a general ledger, is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Alternating between sitting, standing, and walking. Ascending and descending stairs. Crouching and stooping. Pushing and pulling. Reaching overhead or below. Repetitive task movements (filing, keyboarding, copying). Lifting, carrying, and moving objects of up to 10
-15 pounds.

Must be a resident of Illinois or willing to relocate. Flexible scheduling is available, upon completion of a six-month probationary period.
