Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Manager

Seeking a small company finance leader to build finance function from scratch and poise the company for growth!

Privately-held, growing company based in South Side Chicago is seeking a Controller to build out the accounting and finance functions for the organization. Reporting to the President, this person will transition the accounting and finance functions from an outsourced provider to an in-house function. This person will be a key member of the senior leadership team, partnering closely with operations and sales.

We are looking for a hands‑on leader who is excited about building a function, growing a team, and having a direct impact on the profitable growth of the company.

• Transition all accounting functions from outsourced fractional CFO to in-house process
• Lead the operational accounting, monthly close, and financial reporting processes
• Oversee Payroll, AP, and AR
• Maintain rolling 13-week cash forecast
• Manage banking relationships and handle debt schedules, covenants tracking, etc
• Hire, train, and manage a team
• Provide meaningful financial insights and data to the business to help support decision‑making
• Improve processes and build out infrastructure to meet increasing demands of the growing business.
• Participate in ERP conversion

• BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred
• Prior experience working for a lower mid-market company ($15-50mil in revenue)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Prior experience building and/or improving a finance function
