What You Will Be Doing

The Manager, Tax will manage U.S. tax compliance, reporting, controversy, governance, and operational tax activities across Amer Sports U.S. operations. The role is intentionally broad across tax compliance obligations rather than limited to income tax, and will partner closely with the Global Tax Director, the Senior Indirect Tax Director, and the indirect tax team located in Poland (GBS). This role requires strong ownership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, external advisors, and teams operating in different time zones within a complex global organization undergoing significant digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tax Compliance & Reporting
    • Manage U.S. tax compliance requirements across relevant federal, state, and local tax areas, including return work papers, estimated payments, extensions, Black Line (GL) reconciliations, and related compliance documentation.
    • Coordinate data requests and timely delivery of information to service providers and internal stakeholders; leverage BI reporting, Alteryx, and automation tools to improve data collection, validation, and reporting. Lead nexus reviews and state tax research, evaluating the Companys state tax footprint, coordinating with HR and Payroll, assessing filing obligations, and identifying available credits and incentives.
    • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting state and local tax obligations.
    • Maintain the U.S. tax compliance calendar and monitor all filing deadlines.
  • Audits, Controversy & Tax Notices
    • Manage federal, state, and local tax audits, notices, and controversy matters—coordinating responses, gathering documentation, maintaining audit trackers, and driving timely resolution.
    • Partner closely with the Senior Indirect Tax Director and the indirect tax team located in Krakow, Poland on U.S. sales and use tax matters, audits, registrations, compliance initiatives, nexus evaluations, and exposure assessments.
  • Business Registrations & Unclaimed Property
    • Manage U.S. business registration compliance, including entity registrations, foreign qualifications, business license applications, annual reports and renewals, and good-standing requirements across all jurisdictions.
    • Own the U.S. unclaimed property compliance process, including annual filings, due diligence, audit support, voluntary disclosure agreements, internal controls, and coordination with external advisors.
  • Budget, Governance & Stakeholder Management
    • Assist with U.S. tax budget management—tracking spend, monitoring external service provider engagements, reviewing invoices, and maintaining budget-to-actual visibility.
    • Support development of SOPs, internal controls, and documentation aligned with SOX and audit requirements.
    • Collaborate on S/4

HANA implementation, tax digitalization, and other cross-functional projects, translating tax requirements into practical process and system solutions.
    • Serve as the primary U.S. tax point of contact for Finance Controllers, GBS Krakow operational teams, the indirect tax team in Poland, and external advisors—ensuring clear communication, alignment, and accountability.
    • Facilitate effective communication across U.S. and European time zones, ensuring timely follow-up, clear escalation, and alignment between Tax, Finance, GBS, Legal, HR, IT, and external advisors.
    • Drive governance through strong documentation, RACI alignment, and escalation protocols.
What You Need To Succeed
