Description

The Assistant Vice President, Loan Operations will be a key member of Monroe Capital's Operations team, supporting the timely, accurate, and well-controlled execution of loan closings, amendments, restructurings, portfolio servicing, cash activity, and related operational workflows. This individual will manage agented and non-agented loan activity, maintain high-quality portfolio data, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and help ensure consistent operational execution across the platform.

The role requires expertise, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to train team members, strengthen procedures, resolve issues, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing environment. This is a hybrid position requiring 3-4 days per week in Monroe Capital's Chicago office.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Loan closing and transaction execution: Lead and support operational activities for new loan closings, amendments, restructurings, and other transaction events. Prepare system input documents, coordinate closing deliverables, review draft legal documentation, and provide operational feedback to support accurate transaction booking.
  • Portfolio servicing and loan administration: Manage a portfolio of direct agented and non-agented loans, including asset setup and maintenance in Wall Street Office, preparation of closing and funding notices, coordination with lenders, agent banks, participants, borrowers, and funding partners, and support for troubled credits and restructurings.
  • Cash, funding, and reconciliation: Process advances, payments, loan continuances, wires, and settlement activity; monitor account activity; identify incoming payments across bank accounts; perform daily cash reconciliations; and partner with Accounting on cash and loan position activity.
  • Data integrity and reporting: Maintain accurate loan and portfolio data, prepare client invoices, create system notifications, and ensure internal and external stakeholders have timely and accurate information regarding loan activity and transaction status.
  • Process improvement and documentation: Assess existing workflows, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control, document best practices, and contribute to scalable, consistent operating procedures across the loan operations function.
  • Team leadership and training: Review team work product, train loan operations staff on closings and transaction booking, support project management initiatives, and promote consistent standards, accountability, and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Stakeholder communication and service: Build strong working relationships with internal teams, agent banks, customers, lenders, participants, and other external parties. Respond to inquiries related to balances, interest, fees, expenses, audits, and ad hoc requests while providing timely, professional, and solutions-oriented service.
  • Risk awareness and special projects: Proactively identify and escalate loan performance or operational concerns, support portfolio management needs, and contribute to business priorities, technology initiatives, and special projects as requested.
Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of relevant accounting, loan operations, or financial services operations experience.
  • Demonstrated experience closing and servicing complex syndicated credit facilities.
  • Strong understanding of credit agreements and the ability to translate legal and economic terms into accurate servicing system requirements.
  • Corporate finance, private credit, middle-market lending, or related loan administration experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Self-starter with strong judgment, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and commitment to operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with in private credit, direct lending, middle-market lending, or commercial banking.
  • Experience with Wall Street Office (WSO) or similar loan servicing platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience documenting procedures, improving workflows, or supporting operational transformation initiatives
