Position Summary

Horizon Family Wealth is seeking an experienced Lead Trader and Wealth Advisor Associate to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a highly analytical and client-focused professional who enjoys combining investment research, portfolio management, financial planning, and regulatory oversight to deliver exceptional client outcomes.

The Wealth Advisor will play a key role in researching investment opportunities, preparing client recommendations, executing and documenting trades, monitoring portfolio models, supporting financial planning initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm standards.

Key Responsibilities Investment Research & Market Analysis
  • Conduct ongoing economic and market research, including macroeconomic trends, sector developments, and market-moving events.
  • Analyze corporate earnings, analyst reports, and ratings changes to support portfolio positioning decisions.
  • Translate research and market insights into actionable recommendations for advisors and clients.
  • Prepare client review materials, including performance reports, benchmark comparisons, and portfolio commentary.
  • Maintain benchmark allocations across investment models to support accurate performance measurement and reporting.
  • Monitor Bloomberg data, portfolio analytics, and model performance to identify drift, risk exposures, and rebalancing opportunities.
  • Generate cash balance and liquidity reports aligned with clients' short- and long-term objectives.
  • Track cost basis, realized gains, and losses to support tax-aware investment decisions.
  • Execute block trades, model updates, and account-level transactions across equities, ETFs, mutual funds, annuities, and 529 plans.
  • Ensure all trades are executed accurately and in accordance with client objectives and firm policies.
  • Maintain detailed trade documentation and rationale to support compliance and audit readiness.
  • Review trading activity for best execution and operational accuracy.
  • Support retirement, education, and comprehensive goal-based financial planning engagements.
  • Monitor employer-sponsored retirement plans, including allocation reviews, contribution tracking, and plan updates.
  • Manage 529 plan contributions and distributions, coordinating with educational institutions as needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for Orion, assisting with account aggregation, outside asset linking, and reporting-related inquiries.
  • Deliver a high-quality client experience through proactive communication and planning support.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Complete monthly and quarterly compliance activities, including:
  • Mutual fund share class reviews
  • Form 13F tracking
  • Separately Managed Account (SMA) oversight
  • Ensure all advisory activities adhere to firm policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records to support regulatory examinations and internal audits.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in wealth management, investment advisory, financial planning, or a related field.
  • Strong investment research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data and economic trends.
  • Experience using Bloomberg, Orion, and portfolio accounting/reporting platforms.
  • Knowledge of trading workflows, portfolio model management, and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred, but Not Required
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation
