In this position, the controller will provide overall financial leadership and oversight for Adva Care. This role is responsible for developing and monitoring budgets, preparing monthly and annual financial statements, and ensuring compliance with audits, payroll, and regulatory requirements. The Controller serves as a strategic partner to the leadership team, delivering timely financial insights and ensuring sound fiscal management across the organization.
JOBSPECIFIC STANDARDS Essential Functions
- Lead preparation of annual budgets, narrative financial plans, and monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate annual independent audits with certified public accountants in compliance with agency policy.
- Maintain accurate accounts receivable, aging schedules, and accounts payable ledgers; reconcile all subsidiary records and general ledger accounts monthly.
- Ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping, recordkeeping, and financial documentation.
- Oversee reconciliation of bad debts in accordance with Adva Care’s policy.
- Present financial reports, analyses, and budget changes to the CFO, COO, CEO, and Executive Board.
- Partner with the Director of HR to ensure payroll policies and procedures comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage property, purchasing, and annual inventory processes in line with organizational policy.
- Support the organization’s mission and act as a trusted advisor on financial strategy and compliance.
- M&A accounting and systems/data migrations/implementations.
- Proficiency in financial systems and tools, including Excel, Sage, and general accounting software.
- Experience with Paycom or other HRIS systems for payroll, reporting, and evaluations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse groups and individuals.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Flexible schedule, with willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed.
- Commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and ethical financial practices.
- Ability to meet ongoing training requirements and pass annual background checks.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting, or related field from an accredited institution; CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of finance or banking experience, with strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
