Senior Associate, Private Credit Portfolio Management

Role Overview

Deerpath Capital, a leading direct lending firm providing first lien, senior debt financing to U.S. lower middle market companies, is hiring a Senior Associate for its Chicago office. Deerpath maintains investment offices in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale, plus investor relations offices in London, Seoul, Tokyo and Brisbane, and employs approximately 100 people. This is a high-exposure role spanning underwriting, portfolio management, and restructuring, working closely with senior deal team members.

• Underwrite investment opportunities for existing portfolio companies and present recommendations to the investment committee
• Actively manage credit investments by analyzing changes in company performance and industry trends
• Drive deal execution and develop relationships with private equity sponsors, management teams, and industry stakeholders
• Develop and review complex financial models, including LBO, cash flow analysis, and valuations
• Support amendment negotiations and deal structuring
• Coordinate documentation work streams, including review and negotiation of credit agreements and amendments
• Partner with the restructuring team on workouts and mentor junior team members

• Bachelor's degree required with strong academic achievement
• 5-8 years of relevant experience in principal investing (private credit, private equity), investment banking, leveraged finance, restructuring, or corporate banking
• Strong understanding of credit analysis, complex financial modeling, valuation analysis, and legal documentation
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members; willingness to travel
