Your Key Responsibilities
Handling tax in such a large, sophisticated organization takes more than just a technical understanding of current tax practices. As a Property Tax Intern, we’ll look to you to apply your knowledge to a wide range of tax areas and processes, devising strategic outcomes to some very complex issues. As an Intern in our Property Tax Practice, you’ll spend much of your time supporting client engagements by participating in day-to-day interactions with clients, providing a quality work product and driving delivery of services to meet deadlines. You’ll continuously build on your technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and legislation that impact our clients.
As an intern on our team, your role will include:
- Demonstrate an understanding of complex commercial real and personal property tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations.
- Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely and responsive services and work products that exceed client expectations.
- Identify and offer opportunities for tax planning and other special services.
- Prepare quality, practical approaches to the client’s tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in Finance, Economics, International Business, or a related field supported by a strong academic record.
- 3.0 cumulative college/university GPA.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Power Point
- An interest working in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
- Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
- The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.
- You must reside within a commutable distance of the office location associated with this position.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future.
Ideally, you will have:
- Cumulative college/university GPA of 3.2 or above.
