Our client, a growing Chicago-based organization, is seeking a Treasury Manager to lead their credit function while gaining exposure to cash management and forecasting. This is an excellent opportunity for a credit and collections leader ready to broaden into treasury.
About the RoleThe Treasury Manager will oversee the organization's credit activities and credit team, while supporting cash management and cash forecasting efforts. This role reports to the Controller and offers a clear path toward broader treasury and finance leadership responsibility.
Key Responsibilities Credit Management- Manage the credit approval process, including credit applications and bank/trade reference inquiries
- Assess creditworthiness of potential customers; establish payment terms, credit limits, and handle special credit arrangements
- Maintain customer credit files and payment histories; adjust credit limits and terms as needed
- Analyze credit data and financial statements to evaluate risk; recommend approval or denial of credit requests
- Set repayment terms based on earnings, payment history, and purchase activity
- Assist in developing cash flow forecasts, including projected receivable/payable activity
- Analyze variances between forecasted and actual cash flows; provide insights to support funding and cash allocation decisions
- Provide financial information as needed to ensure compliance with bank agreements
- Oversee DSO and aging reports; coordinate collection of past-due amounts
- Direct follow-up on short pays and billing disputes
- Audit delinquent accounts and determine bad debt status
- Evaluate collection policy effectiveness and recommend adjustments
- Ensure liens and bonds are in place where applicable
- Establish, implement, and continuously refine credit policy
- Hire, train, supervise, and develop the credit team
- Assign duties, monitor work quality, and ensure adherence to organizational policy
- Provide day-to-day guidance to the team and address performance issues proactively
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
- 6+ years of related credit, collections, or treasury experience
- Demonstrated experience supervising and developing a team
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Sound judgment and ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment
