$116,208-$145,259   JOB SUMMARY The financial health of the NCI Division is maintained through strategically developed, implemented and analyzed budgets, Salvation Army policies and procedures, accounting principles/guidelines and business practices.  The financial management of the Division also complies with all professional and mandated accounting principles and guidelines.

Direction is provided to staff in a manner that ensures a commitment to The Salvation Army’s high standards of productivity, service excellence, timely results and adherence to policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management/Supervision Provide overall financial management and oversight to all corps and 360 service centers within the NCI Division.

Provide training and consultation to Corps Officers, Envoys and Executive Administrators (hereinafter “Business Leaders”) in the areas of planning, execution and evaluation of financial activities or matters, including researching and resolving questions as required.

Provide leadership to Finance department staff that ensures good customer service to clients, adherence to Salvation Army policies and procedures, timely and accurate reporting, enthusiasm for the goals and objectives of the NCI Division and Finance department, and a high level of commitment to The Salvation Army.

Directly supervise Senior Accountants – Corps and collaborate with the Accounting Manager – Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, Accounting Manager – General Fund, Director of Finance – Chicago City Fund and Director of Finance – Central Illinois Area Command.

Planning/Administration Oversee the documentation or workflows and procedures for Senior Accountants to ensure timely and quality reporting while maintaining supporting documentation and work papers for Statements of Financial Positions (Balance Sheets), revenue reconciliation and variance analysis.

Collaborate with the Divisional Director of Finance in management and planning of both short-term and long-term department goals and objectives.

Provide support to the Divisional Director of Finance as requested.

Financial Services/Activities Provide financial consultation to department directors, Business Leaders and Finance Department staff as required.

Responsible for the preparation of the monthly financial report, and variance analyses that are presented to and reviewed by the Divisional Finance Board and various corps advisory boards, corps councils and business councils.

Oversee financial analyses and forecasts for all Corps on a regular basis, including offering effective and appropriate recommendations, responses and actions for the Corps to be able to ensure they are operating effectively within the Salvation Army’s mission.

Ensure financial statements are following requirements of funding sources, Salvation Army policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Manage Corps’ cash flow needs on a regular basis, providing recommendations as required in coordination with the Divisional Director of Finance.

Review, analyze and provide recommendations relating to Corps annual operating budgets, and mid-year budget revisions, if necessary, in coordination with the Director of Internal Audit & Budgeting as well as the Divisional Director of Finance.
