MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, plus four (4) years of work experience in the administration of diversity, equity, racial, and/or social justice programs of which one year is in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience provided the minimum degree requirement is met.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctorate, conflict resolution experience, governmental workplace experience with diverse employee populations.
DUTIES:
As a member of the Chicago Public Library senior management team reporting to the Deputy Commissioner, the senior Equity Officer is responsible for the overall management and participation in the administration of racial and social equity policies and practices for the Chicago Public Library. Directs the development of goals and strategies that promote equity and inclusion in the department processes, practices, and policy making.
Manages and participates in the development of outreach and engagement policies, procedures, and plans to facilitate the effective inclusive delivery and participation of the library’s initiatives and projects and to engage and increase stakeholder participation. Manages and monitors data relevant to department racial and social equity gaps, impact analysis and gains. Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of equity goals.
The Senior Equity Officer also represents CPL as a liaison to the Mayor's Office of Equity and Racial Justice which may include additional duties for citywide strategic equity initiatives.
