****** 1. Patrol:
**** Foot and vehicular patrol of buildings, grounds, parking lots, off campus facilities and city streets in the vicinity of the campus. To include:

* A. General assistance to faculty, staff, students, visitors, and members of the neighboring community including:
***** Frequenting offices, departments, and common areas addressing university constituents, various student organizations and other faculty and staff to promote the department's community relations programs.
* Endorsing and promoting the Problem Solving/Community Oriented Policing philosophy within our organization and community.
* Advising members of the community how they can assist in crime prevention strategies and techniques.
* Detecting hazardous conditions, natural or man-made, that would constitute a threat to the safety and well-being of the community.

* B. Conduct initial and follow up investigations of crimes and events including:
***** Locating and interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects
* Generating and pursuing investigative leads
* Reviewing reports, documents, files and other data to evaluate criminal activity and identify perpetrators.
* Accurately and thoroughly documenting relevant evidentiary facts, occurrences and activities.
* Working with the State's Attorney's office to obtain necessary subpoenas, warrants, and other legal processes.
* Serving criminal process to include warrants and subpoenas.
* Exercises the lawful use of arrest, force, search, and seizure powers.
* Appearing in criminal and on some occasions, civil court for subpoenas are issued. testimony when
* Working with juvenile officers in the enforcement of laws, which are violated by those individuals younger than 17 years of age to include proper agency response and direction.
* Coordinating with state and local police agencies for investigations.

* C. Protect Crime Scene and Collect Evidence and Information including:
***** Conducting or coordinating investigative activities at crime scenes
* Identifying and preserving the scene for integrity purposes.
* Conducting initial interviews of victims, witnesses, and/or suspects.
* Identifies, collects, and evaluates evidence.
* Recovering and inventorying stolen, confiscated and recovered property.
* Tagging evidence and confiscated property.
* Transports and records all physical evidence into safekeeping; safeguarding the chain of evidence.

* D. Enforcing Traffic Laws and Conducting Traffic Investigations including:
***** Investigating suspicious vehicles.
* Determining probable cause to execute a traffic stop.
* Stopping vehicles to cite, warn or arrest occupants for violations of the ILCS.
* Directing a moving vehicle out of a line of traffic to execute a vehicle stop.
* Executing felony motor stops.
* Checking registration for wants and warrants through L.E.A.D.S./NCIC.
* Completing citations, bond sheets.
* Investigating hit and run violations.
* Investigating traffic accident scene to identify point of impact.
* Collecting physical evidence from the accident scene.
* Completing Illinois Traffic Crash Reports.
* Protecting traffic accident physical evidence for collection.
* Protecting traffic accident scenes to prevent additional accidents at the scene.

**** Completes all necessary reports in a timely manner including:
* Completing initial offense/incident reports
* Completing arrest reports
* Completing criminal investigation reports of felonies and misdemeanors
* Record confessions, witness statements and other accounts in writing
* Completing arrest and complaint forms
**** 3. Conduct Interviews and Interrogations/ Conduct Search and Seizure:
***** Interrogate adult suspects
* Interview complainants, witnesses, etc.
