Duties and Responsibilities
The Sergeant will conduct daily briefings, evaluate situations and deploy manpower in an appropriate manner. He/she will prepare and review reports on operations and activities; will provide support for officers who are answering calls relative to crimes, accidents, disturbances; will review officer's reports for thoroughness and accuracy; will conduct preliminary reports as necessary; additionally, will protect crime scenes and preserve physical evidence as needed.
The Sergeant will provide general assistance and information to students, faculty and staff.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED and 400 or more hours of certified police academy training from a recognized State of Illinois training facility. At least three years of experience as a Campus Safety officer or member of a certificated police department.
QualificationsThis position requires objectivity, as well as the ability to give and receive feedback. Confidentiality in all matters is imperative. The qualified candidate will have experience as a Campus Safety officer or member of a certificated police department. This position also requires good verbal and written communication skills.
Certificates/Credentials/LicensesFull Time Certification by ILETSB.
