Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Tuberculosis (TB) Program Manager. The TB Program Manager plans and directs statewide program activities for Tuberculosis efforts including supervision of epidemiological data, grants management, TB elimination and coalition building. This position also serves as the state representative to federal and local representatives and between state regional organizations for TB control and elimination.
Responsibilities- Plans, develops, evaluates and directs the statewide Tuberculosis (TB) Control and Prevention Program.
- Serves as a working supervisor.
- Provides epidemiologic consultation to Program staff through the application of TB structure policies and guidelines to private physicians, local health agencies, hospitals, school nurses and others for the control and prevention of TB.
- Maintains liaison with professionals at the federal level and with other state agencies and between states for discussions related to federal funds awarded to the program, and regarding TB prevention and control activities.
- Maintains and develops local and state operating procedures for the Illinois Disease Surveillance System (IDSS) for TB agencies.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in public health, registered nursing, microbiology, sociology, anthropology, veterinary medicine, biology, psychology, chemistry, epidemiology, or a related field.
- Requires four (4) years of professional experience in communicable disease or infectious disease surveillance and/or control programs at the local, state or federal level.
- Illinois Registered Nurse License.
- Two (2) years of experience supervising subordinate employees.
- Three (3) years of experience with statistical software (SPSS, SAS or Epi Info).
- Three (3) years of experience with mapping software (ArcGIS).
- Two (2) years of experience in tuberculosis case management, health care delivery systems, and/or managed care programs.
- Three (3) years of experience with Business Objects.
- Three (3) years of experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating health care systems.
- Two (2) years of experience using productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Infopath, Outlook or their equivalent.
