Job Title:Medical Assistant - Oral Surgery
Position Summary:
Our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to support our oral surgical assistants and providers in a fast-paced, specialty surgical environment.
This role is ideal for a Medical Assistant who enjoys hands-on patient care, teamwork, and surgical settings, and who wants to be part of a highly skilled oral surgery team. The MA will focus on patient preparation, documentation, room turnover, and post-operative support, allowing our Oral Surgical Assistants to remain focused on chairside surgical care.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Escort patients and prepare them for consultations and procedures
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists
- Prepare exam and procedure rooms, including room turnover and setup
- Provide pre-op and post-op instructions and reinforce provider guidance
- Assist with post-operative patient monitoring and comfort
- Support Oral Surgical Assistants during procedures within MA scope of practice
- Administrative & Documentation
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Prepare and maintain complete patient charts
- Assist with follow-up appointments, referrals, and care coordination
- Support inventory management and stocking of clinical supplies
- Safety, Compliance & Operations
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant clinical environment
- Assist with daily clinic flow to minimize patient wait times
- Participate in team huddles and quality improvement efforts
- Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to work on-site in a clinical/surgical setting
- Strong communication and patient-care skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment

- Experienced Candidates (Preferred)
- 1+ year experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical, surgical, or specialty practice
- Experience in oral surgery, dental, ENT, plastics, or outpatient surgery
- EHR experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
This position functions within California Medical Assistant regulations.
The MA does not perform surgical assisting or expanded dental functions and works in support of licensed Oral Surgical Assistants and providers.

- Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, turning, standing, bending, walking, hearing, reading, writing and keyboarding, may lift up to 25 lbs.
