Emergency Medicine (CDU) – Advanced Practice Provider
Rush University Medical Center invites applications for the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position in the Emergency Medicine Critical Decision Unit (CDU) in Chicago, IL.
About the Department- 44 attending physicians, 36 residents, and 4 fellows
- 10 APPs supporting efficient Emergency Medicine care
- Manage multiple patients concurrently in the CDU for ESI levels 2–5
- Document patient history and physical examinations in the electronic medical record
- Conduct comprehensive or episodic health assessments, develop care plans, and monitor patient status
- Prescribe medications, initiate consultations, and order laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures
- Rotate shifts, including nights, weekends, and additional moonlighting opportunities with hospital medicine and telemedicine via On Demand
- Collaborate with ED/Hospitalist physicians on patient management when appropriate
- Competency in APRN or PA practice, including medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, and practice-based learning
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies and approaches in the area of expertise
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with the healthcare team
- 3+ years acute care APP experience required
- APRN candidates require Acute Care Certification for inpatient work
APP must meet all applicable state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.
Licensure & Certification- Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) or Physician Assistant
- Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner)
- American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) certification
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (PALS preferred)
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant/Associate or eligible to obtain licensure through the Illinois IDFPR application process
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
- Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
