Job Description

The Physical Therapist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory standards.

  • Licensed physical therapist complying with the Code of Ethics/Standards of Practice as outlined by their professional organization and the State of Illinois.
  • Direct patient care, teaching, participation on committees, and departmental process improvement.
  • Role model for all therapists and clinical interns in professional, clinical, communication, education, and leadership activities.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the four NM values of teamwork, patients first, integrity, and excellence in daily work and interactions.
  • Present a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers; address questions and concerns promptly.
  • Use effective service recovery skills to solve problems or service breakdowns.
  • Maintain primary responsibility over patient plan of care through timely collaboration with treating PT/PTA.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by helping co‑workers within and across departments and communicate effectively.
  • Use organizational and unit resources efficiently.
  • Manage work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities and processes.
  • Participate in cost‑reduction, process streamlining, and service enhancement efforts.
  • Demonstrate creative problem‑solving and adaptability to special circumstances.
  • Show essential skill competencies in selecting appropriate evaluations and treatment modalities; perform re‑evaluations and adjust plans per guidelines.
  • Assume complete responsibility over patient management from initial contact to discharge, ensuring functional progress, safety, and treatment outcomes.
  • Adhere to department policy regarding evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries; document all notes in EMR.
  • Complete daily notes reflecting patient response, performance, and assessment status to support reimbursement.
  • Provide educational materials and methods appropriate to the patient’s level of understanding and motivation.
  • Participate in committees, department processes, and special projects.
  • Build professional relationships with members of the health care team.
  • Engage in internal and external marketing as expected by the department.
  • Create a culture of respectful communication by listening, encouraging input, and acknowledging contributions.
  • Accept constructive feedback and implement timely changes.
  • Proactively complete non‑patient care responsibilities within established timelines.
  • Contribute to educational efforts such as in‑services, journal clubs, and new‑hire orientation.
  • Mentor students in clinical observation programs as per department expectations.
  • Maintain productivity standards and demonstrate willingness to flex schedule or assignments.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Illinois.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
Preferred
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy.
Additional Information NM employees are not eligible for sign‑on bonus.
