COORDINATOR – WELLNESS CENTER – PART TIME
Malcolm X College is seeking a Part–Time Coordinator for the Wellness Center Department. The mission of Malcolm X College is to provide accessible liberal arts and health‑focused education that fosters personal and professional achievement. The City Colleges of Chicago Wellness Centers provide counseling, case management and other social services to support students in maintaining their personal well‑being and achieving their academic goals. Located at each of the seven colleges, Wellness Centers offer best‑practices mental‑health and psycho‑social services to students, faculty, and staff including crisis intervention, case management with linkage to community‑based resources and public aid programs;
individual counseling, support groups, evaluation for learning disabilities, wellness education and outreach; and consultation and training for faculty and staff.
Reporting to a Manager, Wellness Center, the Coordinator – Wellness Center (PT) coordinates front‑office activities, provides customer service, and performs clerical, administrative, and referral services duties to support delivery of mental‑health and wellness services to students and staff at the college.
Essential Duties- Acts as first point of contact, staffing the front desk, answering phones, and providing a welcoming environment.
- Responds to inquiries, explains policies and procedures, and provides information on services and events.
- Provides first‑level intake, engaging clients and requesting intake‑form completion.
- Reviews intake forms and informs supervisor or staff if a client is in high distress and needs crisis intervention.
- Uses Titanium, a HIPAA‑compliant medical records system, to enter data, schedule appointments, and register clients for workshops.
- Prepares reports on services provided and clinician hours.
- Provides referrals for community services using a case‑management approach.
- Works collaboratively to plan, organize, and execute events such as Wellness Fairs and health screenings.
- Handles event logistics, including scheduling space, tables, chairs, audio equipment, and attendance tracking.
- Maintains event calendar and creates flyers to promote events.
- Outreach to promote services, visiting classrooms and presenting brief talks.
- Co‑ordinates with Marketing to prepare promotional materials.
- Attends professional development sessions as directed by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a health‑related, counseling or social services field.
- Experience in a community, mental‑health, or social‑services agency performing intake or client servicing.
- Excellent customer‑service skills.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students and staff.
- Knowledge of wellness and mental‑health issues among college students.
- Knowledge of office methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Excellent English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Skill in event planning and organization.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse student body, faculty and staff.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues appropriately.
- General office environment.
- Standard office equipment including personal computers.

- Salary Range: $16.97 - $23.87 per hour.
