Position Overview

Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics (CPO) is seeking an ABC Certified Pedorthist (CPed) to deliver therapeutic footwear, custom foot orthoses, and pedorthic devices within a collaborative healthcare clinic environment. This role focuses on evaluating foot and lower extremity pathology, applying lower extremity biomechanics principles, and providing shoe modifications and orthotic insoles to improve mobility, comfort, and long-term function. The Certified Pedorthist partners with physicians, podiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams to support patients through evidence-based pedorthic treatment plans.

This position requires strong clinical documentation practices, Medicare Therapeutic Shoe Program familiarity, durable medical equipment (DME) workflow knowledge, and patient education skills. As part of a comprehensive prosthetics and orthotics practice, the CPed contributes to rehabilitation services, mobility solutions, and referral relationship development while maintaining compliance with ABC certification standards and applicable state regulations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and collaborate with prescribing providers to determine appropriate pedorthic treatment plans.
  • Provide therapeutic footwear, diabetic footwear, custom foot orthoses, and shoe modifications consistent with clinical standards and ABC scope of practice.
  • Apply lower extremity biomechanics principles to address foot and ankle pathology and improve functional outcomes.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on device use, wear schedules, and care expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation to support Medicare reimbursement, HIPAA compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and resolve device-related concerns to ensure optimal fit, comfort, and patient satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain professional referral relationships with physicians, podiatrists, and rehabilitation providers.
  • Stay current on pedorthic materials, footwear modification techniques, and evolving best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare and OSHA requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Current American Board for Certification (ABC) Certified Pedorthist (CPed) credential required.
  • State licensure where required, or eligibility to obtain licensure in applicable jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, lower extremity biomechanics, and foot and ankle pathology.
  • Working knowledge of pedorthic materials, therapeutic footwear, and shoe modification techniques.
  • Effective communication and patient education skills.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and workflow management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Medicare Therapeutic Shoe Program documentation and compliance.
  • Experience in referral development and physician relationship management.
  • Prior experience in an outpatient pedorthic, orthotics, or rehabilitation clinic setting.
  • Experience collaborating within a prosthetics and orthotics multidisciplinary practice.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a clinical setting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and fine motor coordination required for footwear modification and device adjustments.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for device fabrication assessment and fitting.
  • Base salary: $62,000 annually
    , commensurate with experience, referral development activity, clinical proficiency, and demonstrated program contribution.
