EVS Supervisor

Summary/Objective

The Environmental Services Supervisor provides supervision for the Environmental Services Department ensuring quality results. The supervisor directs and assists the Environmental Services Director in managing staff, meeting with residents and staff, and actively participating in the facility’s goals and objectives. The supervisor understands the Insight Healthcare contract and obligations within the agreement.

• Responsible for training hourly associates in formal classroom settings and on the job.
• Supervises all EVS functions and personnel.
• Participates in the purchasing of supplies within budgeted guidelines from approved vendors.
• Maintains cost records and works to meet budget guidelines.
• Involved in hiring, orientation, training, counseling and discipline of staff; may recommend terminations to direct report.
• Schedules work hours and assignments; reviews and checks staff work performance.
• Ensures each shift is properly staffed.
• Creates job descriptions and cleaning schedules.
• Understands EVS/Laundry chemicals and their proper usage; checks in EVS/Laundry and Linen supplies.
• Ensures EVS/Laundry equipment and supplies are properly stored and maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Visits residents to ensure EVS service exceeds expectations; visits all residents at least once per quarter; visits residents at nutritional risk weekly; documents all visits.
• Participates in required facility meetings.
• Evaluates work performance; gives evaluations to employees.
• Submits written reports to administration or EVS Director as necessary.
• Investigates on-the-job injuries, corrects problems and retrains employee as necessary.
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations; understands facility’s fire and disaster plans, follows procedures during drills and emergencies.
• Performs other department duties assigned by direct report.
