Overview
Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR), a nationally recognized leader in orthopedic services, seeks a full‑time MRI Technologist. This role performs high‑quality imaging per physician orders while delivering excellent patient care. The position is based at the Orthopedic Building in Chicago, IL on a Monday‑Friday schedule with no weekend or holiday duties.
Responsibilities- Maintain appropriate levels of supplies.
- Perform duties of co‑workers and subordinates as workload dictates.
- Interview patients to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and to request removal of hazardous metal objects.
- Provide education and training for student technologists.
- Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the MRI facility.
- Operate the MRI scanner, including routine and experimental setup, modification of scanning parameters, weekly QA testing, and basic troubleshooting.
- Document work processes as required.
- Work extended hours when necessary.
- Communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
- Screen patients prior to scanning, gather accurate history, prepare patients for their scan, provide immediate medical treatment and assistance when necessary, and respond to incidents and accidents within the MRI suite.
- Research and document any questionable implanted devices.
- Document accurate and appropriate scan information in the patient log book.
- Maintain a safe and appropriate work area.
- Attend required meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Work as a team member within the imaging department and all other departments.
- Practice proper safety precautions in the magnet environment.
- Use professional/ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Stay abreast of and comply with all state and federal laws including HIPAA, OSHA, and FLSA.
- Perform and document daily and/or weekly QA/ACR phantom requirements.
- Position patients to capture appropriate images.
- Demonstrate an understanding of human cross‑sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Serve as the primary liaison between patients, radiologists and other members of the support team.
- Accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions.
- Comply with all client facility policies, procedures and practices.
- Follow directions or instructions from a supervisor.
- Graduate of an ARRT‑approved program.
- Minimum of 3 years of MRI orthopedic experience.
- One year of experience with Siemens MR scanners.
- MRI certification required.
- X‑ray certification and experience required.
Pay Range: $38.00 – $47.00 per hour. Compensation is based on skills, experience, education, certifications, and market data. Base pay is only a portion of total rewards.
