Position: Client Office Phlebotomist-Part-time Days SD

Job Summary

Part‑time, 20 hours per week phlebotomy position located at a client site in the Magnificent Mile neighborhood in Chicago. Must work Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

Salary range: $19.81 – $26.74 per hour (placement within the range depends on relevant experience and internal equity).

Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age‑related standards and departmental policies.
  • Demonstrate the AIDET patient communication model and optimize patient safety.
  • Receive and review physician orders, ensuring complete information for lab services and enter accurate orders.
  • Communicate with patients and provide appropriate post‑phlebotomy care.
  • Process specimens promptly to maintain sample stability and integrity (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, packaging).
  • Record refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA data; report concerns through the Corrective Action Log.
  • Understand and maintain lab equipment; follow up on mandatory mandatory orders and report status.
  • Notify laboratory and/or physicians of specimen issues.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to biohazard waste procedures.
  • Perform lab‑related clerical duties, including order entry, verification, patient information retrieval, inventory management, and equipment sanitization.
  • Use departmental resources efficiently; participate in cost‑reduction and process‑streamlining efforts.
  • Complete continuing education and competency assessments.
  • Collaborate with team members professionally.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgment to resolve challenging situations.
  • Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization, training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, or at least one year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting, or CMA certification.
Preferred
  • Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types.
  • Experience with processing, transferring, and handling centrifuge specimens.
  • Familiarity with medical EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
