Job Description Summary

The Occupational Therapist will select appropriate evaluation procedures and direct patient participation in selected tasks to restore or maximize independence in daily living skills. The therapist facilitates learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity and participates in the department's clinical education program.

Job Description
  • Evaluate, assess, and plan treatment, orienting patients and significant others to the purposes and processes of OT evaluation and treatment.
  • Assess patient impairments, disabilities, and handicaps appropriate to diagnosis, life roles, developmental stage, functional status, and medical condition.
  • Facilitate patient participation in therapy and collaborate with others to advocate for patients and families to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Identify areas where abilities and impairments affect function to establish goals in conjunction with the patient, family, and team members.
  • Implement patient treatment plans using occupational therapy approaches, selecting activities to achieve outcomes, transferring and positioning patients, and modifying treatment as necessary.
  • Participate in patient care conferences to coordinate treatment and educate patient and family.
  • Document patient care activities following department protocols, utilizing RICIS and appropriate manual report forms.
  • Supervise affiliated OT students (if applicable).
  • Teach in Department and Education and Training courses (if applicable).
  • Perform all other duties assigned in the best interest of the institution.
Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to the Therapy Manager (Ability Lab), Therapy Manager (Innovation Center), or Clinical Manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • Illinois license to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop professional skills through development plans, continuing education, and in‑service offerings.
  • Understanding of growth and development of infants, children, adolescents, and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to interpret growth and development information to assure patient needs are met.
  • Analytical ability to gather and interpret data from patient charts and recommend treatment solutions.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with health‑care professionals and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Physical ability to transfer and position patients.
Working Conditions
  • Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
  • Some exposure to infectious diseases when working with patients.
  • May include community, home, work, school, and off‑site clinic settings.
  • Includes Saturday and Sunday rotation work.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $68,000.00 - $
