Pay Range: $42.00 - $61.88 per hour

Summary:

Job Summary:

   
This position will work under proximal supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner to coordinate the delivery of comprehensive cardiopulmonary care by administering and managing a range of therapeutic and diagnostic interventions and advanced procedures across all patient care areas. The Respiratory Therapist LP role ensures the highest standards of care in complex patient scenarios. Focus may be in adult or neonatal-pediatric respiratory care.

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum of an associate’s degree from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved program.

• Pass National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialing exam prior to start date

• Apply for Illinois license prior to start date

• Obtain Registered Respiratory Therapist credential within 90 days of start date

• BLS prior to start date

• ACLS prior to start date (adults)

• PALS within 90 days of start date (neo/peds)

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - obtained within 180 days of hire (neo/peds)

• Competencies
oPass departmental competencies in adult and/or neonatal/pediatric respiratory care.
oTechnical skills are required to adapt equipment and procedures to patient needs.
oAnalytical skills are required to evaluate patients and their clinical response to therapy
oCustomer service skills are required to effectively meet the needs of patients, families, and members of the healthcare team on an almost constant basis.

Physical Demands:

• Assess patient cardiopulmonary status through clinical observation, patient assessment, and physiological monitoring

• Administer bronchial hygiene and therapeutic interventions guided by evidence-based protocols

• Recommend and implement appropriate interventions to include but not limited to initiation, alteration and discontinuation of therapy based on patient assessment

• Assess patients before, during and after the administration or application of any medication, procedure or device

• Provide invasive and non-invasive ventilator management based on patient clinical assessment, diagnostic results, ventilation values and waveform analysis
