Pharmacy Technician I Job Description

Department:

Hours:

PRN (as needed)

Shift: Weekends

Not eligible for health benefits

Required:

High School Diploma, IL Pharmacy Technician License within 60 days of hire, Certified Pharmacy Technician within 2 years of license

Pay:
Based on experience, starting at $16.94/hour

Responsibilities
  • Answer the door and telephone.
  • Assist customers with inquiries, questions, and concerns.
  • Check pharmacy stock for drugs that need to be reordered.
  • Complete General Employee Orientation, On-Line Interactive Education (OLIE), and all other competency assessments related to the position of Pharmacy Technician.
  • Count out register and ensure there is change daily.
  • Maintain a clean and uncluttered work environment.
  • Make ice packs and order drugs for hospice comfort packs.
  • Monitor assigned section for outdated drugs (in Prairie Pharmacy).
  • Obtain and maintain Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification within 2 years of hire (exception: Pharmacist students are not required by the state of IL to obtain certification).
  • Obtain and maintain Illinois Pharmacy Technician Licensure within 60 days of hire.
  • Pick up and deliver mail and orders to the storeroom daily.
  • Pick up outdated drugs from inpatient pharmacy and dispose of properly.
  • Process departmental paperwork as needed.
  • Process medication orders accurately and in a timely manner. File processed orders upon completion.
  • Process IDB orders for clinics.
  • Take medications for employees to lab for couriers to deliver to clinics.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (Required).
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician within 2 years of license, or Pharmacist Student Certificate
    - National Health career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
  • Illinois Pharmacy Technician License within 60 days of hire
    - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Compensation

Estimated compensation range $16.94 - $26.26 per hour based on experience.
