Position: Direct Support Professional (CRS Legacy)

Position

Direct Support Professional (Part-Time)

Location: 6610 N Clark, Chicago, IL 60626

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 2:00pm

Responsibilities
  • Implements dynamic, goal-oriented, and person-centered programming across multiple domains, including independent living skills, social/emotional development, communication, problem-solving, vocational development, community outings, and safety.
  • Assists in planning and directly implementing ongoing community-based activities for all clients, aligned with individual goals and preferences.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of client documentation and paperwork (daily attendance, case notes, and data on goals and supports) using the agency’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Supports clients’ independence in meal preparation as needed.
  • Supports personal care activities (including assistance with toileting) and grooming/hygiene as needed.
  • Implements positive and proactive behavior management techniques as identified in behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborates with program managers and administration regarding clients’ programming needs and concerns.
  • Assists with bus, lunch, and break duties as assigned, including potential after-hours coverage.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings, daily debriefings, and annual client Personal Plan meetings as required.
  • Provides group coverage and client supervision in case of absences or vacancies.
  • Ensures adherence to mandated reporting, OIG guidelines, and DHS guidelines.
  • Maintains a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
  • Maintains professional communication with co-workers, clients’ parents/guardians, employers, staff, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Completes required trainings and certifications (on hire and ongoing), including crisis intervention and Department of Human Services-related trainings.
  • Maintains confidentiality of individuals’ records in accordance with agency policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive agency vehicles; capable of navigating public transportation (CTA/RTA/Metra).
  • DSP certification or ability to obtain DSP certification within six months of employment (provided by agency).
  • CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment (provided by agency).
  • Ability to obtain crisis intervention certification as required by the agency.
  • Basic computer literacy, including internet navigation, training systems, and login credentials recall.
  • Ability to read and write agency-required documents related to the job function.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred.
  • Ability to set priorities, multi-task, and work in a high-stress environment.
  • Ability to interact with diverse personalities, including clients, guardians, staff, and stakeholders.
