In-House Security
24/7 in-house security with 20-40 visits per day. Ratios are 1:4, with hallway patients being 5-6 to one.
Required CertificationsBLS, ACLS, PALS and CPI preferred.
Common Diagnoses/Types of PatientsRespiratory patients, overdoses (heroin), geri-psych, typical ED population.
Experience or 'Must Have' Skills1 year of ED experience.
ED Physicians/Mid-Levels1 ED Physician
Charge Nurse/House SupervisorCharge nurse, ideally does not take patients. House supervisor 24/7.
Nurse Aids/Paramedics/Patient SittersED Techs, Paramedics (used in Triage)
EMR and RT EquipmentEMR:
Meditech RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.)
RT to manage vents, BiPap, treatments.
Telemetry6 monitored beds, monitors at nurses station, nurses are responsible for reading and monitoring telemetry.
X-Ray and TransportXray in the ED, separate department containing additional Xray services and CT is not in the ED department. They have transporters until 11pm, after that nurses and techs will be responsible for transporting patients.
PhlebotomyNurse draw on initial IV start. Repeats will be done by phlebotomy.
Shifts & Scheduling7-7 for AM and PM. and 3P to 3A. Schedule is made out 4 weeks at a time, overtime is available. Modified self-scheduling.
Weekend and Holiday RequirementsEvery other weekend. Will be assigned to one of two teams for holidays.

Unit/Department Specific OrientationDepends on experience and comfort level but typically 2-3 shifts with a preceptor.
