Reporting to the ACOO of Transplant Services, the Director, Patient Care Services (Transplant Clinic, Post Transplant Care and Outreach) plans, directs, organizes, and evaluates all clinical and operational activities within the UI Health transplant clinics and post transplant care. The Director is responsible for the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care; oversight of nursing practice, staffing, quality, safety, supplies, and resource utilization;
and ensuring efficient clinic operations and continuity of care across the transplant continuum. The role provides leadership for personnel management, staff development, regulatory compliance, performance improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration, while driving patient outcomes and achieving departmental and organizational goals.
- Provide coordination of care and services through the management team of providers caring for unit patients.
- Develops a therapeutic relationship with patients, family members, visitors, and colleagues to provide care coordination utilizing evidence-based practice.
- Interprets and directs the implementation of nursing philosophy and objectives, departmental policies, and procedures, and applies recognized standards of nursing care and practice.
- Plans, selects, and devises nursing operations, work methods, procedures, workflow and standards for quality and quantity of work, including staffing standards.
- Plans and develops patient safety innovations and practice improvement.
- Establishes, implements, and evaluates quality of care to monitor and evaluate operations for compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
- Integrate shared leadership and foster collaboration across multi-disciplinary disciplines to arrive at decisions affecting the unit.
- Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinate supervisors/other nursing personnel.
- Prepares formal answers to, and recommends the adjustment of, grievances and disciplinary matters.
- Prepares budget for assigned area or program and is responsible for adherence to approved budget and goals.
- Plans, assigns and reviews work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met.
- Hires, trains, develops, and manages staff to ensure that qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
