A restorative aide helps patients regain or maintain their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. They work with patients recovering from accidents, illnesses, or surgery.
Responsibilities- Help patients with daily tasks like eating, bathing, and moving around
- Assist patients with mobility exercises and activities
- Help patients strengthen muscles and improve range of motion
- Work on speech therapy
- Follow patients' rehabilitation plans
- Monitor and document patients' progress
- Communicate with other healthcare team members
- Certified nurse assistant (CNA) with specialized training in restorative care
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work independently with indirect supervision
- Physical strength, endurance, and motor coordination
- Strong ability with sight, sound, and speech
- Ability to frequently change position, such as standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, and carrying
Restorative aides work in a variety of settings, including nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. They work under the guidance of licensed nurses and therapists.
