- Complete pre-registration and full registration for families as needed
- Ensure eligibility information is accurate
- Obtain patient/family consents and mandatory forms and enter them into Epic
- Query MyChart and Care Everywhere and use Epic Care Link as appropriate
- Check referrals and assist families with same-day service referrals when able
- Inform families and collect payments including estimates, copays, outstanding balances, and self-pay amounts
- Copy insurance cards as appropriate
- Provide intake forms and instructions; print clinical labels and scanning documents
- Provide to patients as appropriate
- Inform patients and families of wait times or service delays
- Schedule new, return, same-day, and ancillary appointments
- Enter patient information into additional electronic systems as required
- Adhere to organizational Power All principles and maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Complete checkout procedures and prepare required forms
- Coordinate activities with Patient Service Representative staff and department team members
- Enter, release, and manage outpatient lab orders and written orders
- Follow Medical Imaging check-in, Epic Care Link, payment estimate, written order, and scheduling processes
- Complete outpatient surgery admissions via Optime workflow and collect copayments or deductibles
- Answer department and patient phone lines and handle caller needs
- Create recalls and waitlist notifications
- Complete daily no-show documentation and communicate with families to reschedule
- Document and send patient messages to providers via Epic in-basket
- Perform other assigned job functions
- High school diploma/GED required
- Some college preferred
- Some knowledge of medical terminology, third party billing, and managed care requirements strongly preferred
- Some knowledge of electronic medical records
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word applications such as Outlook and other computer skills preferred
- High level of customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication/listening skills
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage stressful situations appropriately
Demonstrates proficiency in patient registration processes, including eligibility verification, appointment scheduling, and managing electronic medical records. Exhibits strong customer service and communication skills while adhering to HIPAA compliance and organizational principles.
