Pay Range: $34.89 - $56.78 per hour

The Community Health Outreach & Events Manager is responsible for overseeing Equal Hope's Community Health Workers (CHWs), coordinating community outreach and education efforts, leading outreach-related communications, and planning and executing community events that advance Equal Hope's mission to eliminate health inequities in Chicago and surrounding counties.

This role ensures that CHW activities, outreach messaging, and community events are aligned, data-informed, and culturally responsive to the communities Equal Hope serves.

• 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in community health, outreach, CHW programs, or related public health/community-based work, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Demonstrated experience planning and implementing community outreach and events in diverse, under-resourced communities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating accessible, community-facing materials and/or health education content.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, CHWs, healthcare providers, and partner organizations.
• Proficiency with standard office software and basic data tracking (e.g., Microsoft Office/Google Suite, databases/CRMs, spreadsheets).

• Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, community health or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience[JC2.1].
• Lived experience in communities most impacted by health inequities in the Chicago region.
• Bilingual (e.g., English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
• Previous experience as a Community Health Worker or supervising CHWs.

• Requires frequent travel throughout Chicago and surrounding counties (including Cook, Lake, and Will counties) to attend meetings, outreach events, and partner sites; some evenings and weekends are required for community events. A valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle are required, with mileage reimbursed in accordance with Equal Hope policy.

• Leadership and team supervision – Demonstrates the ability to lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of Community Health Workers; sets clear expectations, provides constructive feedback, and fosters a collaborative, trauma-informed, and mission-driven team culture.
• Community outreach and engagement – Effectively plans and executes outreach strategies, builds and sustains relationships with community partners, and engages residents in under-resourced communities in a respectful, culturally responsive manner.
• Communication skills – Communicates clearly and compassionately with community members, CHWs, partners, and internal staff; can translate complex health information into plain language for a variety of audiences and channels (print, digital, in‑person).
