Scrub Technologist

• Serves as a scrub person for basic surgical procedures and participates in complex surgical procedures.
• Follows departments procedure for scrub persons by assembling surgical packs, supplies and instruments for surgical cases.
• Assures an adequate number of appropriate supplies and instrumentation are available in accordance with surgeon’s preference and counts all instruments, needles and sponges.
• Assists with monitoring and reporting blood and fluids loss during cases.
• Adjusts priorities and participates in resolving problems as appropriate.
• Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions utilized during surgical procedures.
• Gathers, checks and opens supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Review the patient’s chart, identify patient, verify surgery to be performed with consent forms, and bring the patient to the assigned operation rooms.

• Create a safe, effective environment.
• Exceptional knowledge of surgical technology and surgical procedures.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Excellent collaboration and organizational skills.
• Active listening and time management skills.

• Associate degree in Surgical Technology from accredited school or two years of experience in a directly related area.
• Valid state Surgical Technologist license.
• Current Basic Life Support certificate required.
• Ability to interact comfortably with a high volume of patients, families, and staff in a stressful environment.
