Job Purpose

The AAC Clinical Sales Consultant is a field-based territory development and clinical sales position responsible for growing Speech Generating Device (SGD) referrals, evaluations, and placements within an assigned geographic territory.

The primary focus of this role is to develop and maintain relationships with Speech-Language Pathologists, physician offices, therapy clinics, hospitals and rehabilitation programs, school systems, autism and developmental disability programs, and other healthcare referral sources that serve individuals who may benefit from Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Success in this position requires consistent time in the field identifying new referral opportunities, conducting face-to-face account visits, providing educational in-services and device demonstrations, supporting AAC evaluations, and developing referral sources into long-term partnerships.

The AAC Clinical Sales Consultant is expected to independently manage and grow the assigned territory while providing a high level of clinical support to referral sources, patients, and families and complying with all company, accreditation, payer, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.

General Expectations
  • Maintain regular, reliable and predictable attendance and independently manage a field-based work schedule.
  • Spend the majority of working time in the assigned territory meeting face-to-face with referral sources, prospective accounts, clinicians and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain an organized territory plan that balances development of existing referral relationships with consistent prospecting for new accounts.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, patient protocols, government regulations and professional standards.
  • Develop and maintain expert working knowledge of AAC/SGD products, software, accessories, funding requirements and applicable payer coverage criteria.
  • Represent the company professionally in physician offices, hospitals, therapy clinics, schools and other healthcare environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Own the growth and development of the assigned territory and achieve company-established goals for referrals, evaluations, SGD placements, revenue and account development.
  • Maintain an active field schedule with a company-established expectation of approximately 22–25 meaningful in-person referral-source visits per week, unless otherwise directed based on territory needs.
  • Prospect for and develop new referral sources throughout the territory rather than relying solely on existing accounts.
  • Develop strong working relationships with SLPs, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician office staff, therapy directors, case managers, social workers, discharge planners, special education professionals and other individuals involved in identifying and treating potential AAC candidates.
  • Routinely visit and develop relationships with:
    • Speech and pediatric therapy clinics
    • Physician offices and specialty medical practices, including neurology, developmental pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, pulmonology and other specialties serving patients with communication impairments
    • Hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation departments and rehabilitation facilities
    • Autism/ABA clinics and developmental disability programs
    • School systems and special education programs
    • Early intervention programs
    • Home health and private-duty nursing organizations
    • University SLP programs
    • Advocacy organizations and community programs serving individuals with complex communication needs
    • Other appropriate healthcare and community referral sources
  • Develop a strategic account plan for the…
